THE CREATIVE CAPITALIST: AN OPPORTUNITY HANDBOOK

THE CREATIVE CAPITALIST: AN OPPORTUNITY HANDBOOK

The Creative Capitalist: An Opportunity Handbook is a strategic manual for modern creative entrepreneurs designed to dismantle the romanticized "starving artist" myth. The book provides a rigorous, data-informed methodology for working creatives to transition from solitary production to managing a sustainable, scalable business ecosystem.

The Creative Capitalist offers a comprehensive framework for artistic professionalization, focusing on the following core pillars:

  • Mindset and Strategic Governance: Introduces "Radical Decoupling" and the "Recovery Ledger" to treat inspiration as a finite, manageable resource, ensuring that rest and boundary-setting serve as load-bearing components of long-term creative output.
  • Evidence-Based Decision Making: Challenges the "Focus Group Fallacy" by integrating insights from neuromarketing and computational data. It teaches artists how to apply physiological and behavioral signals—such as affective potency and engagement metrics—to refine their message and bridge the gap between passion and market reality.
  • The Four Pillars of Value: Replaces traditional market opacity with a checkable investment framework. It defines the four factors that serious collectors and investors use to evaluate work: Aesthetics, Provenance, Liquidity, and Artist Brand.
  • The Multi-Layered Legacy Ecosystem: Provides a blueprint for scaling, guiding the artist through the technological, economic, institutional, and behavioral transitions required to build a venture that outlives any single piece of work or week of activity.

The book is written with a tone of directness and severity, prioritizing actionable systems over inspiration. It serves as an operating system for creative founders, offering specific toolkits—from commission agreements to cash-flow forecasting—to help artists protect their time, price their labor ethically, and build a lasting, measurable legacy.

  • About the Author

Dr. Chiqui Rodriguez is an artist and researcher who fuses creativity with a close attention to systems, exploring the relationships between craft, technology, and value. Her work invites audiences to look past the surface of the canvas toward the structures — personal, cultural, and economic — that shape how creative work is made and sustained.

Her artistic roots trace to Angono, Rizal, the Philippines, a town with a well-known tradition of realist and folk painting, and her own practice has developed across exhibitions and residencies including engagements in Berlin, Florence, and New York. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, London, and a member of the Council for Inclusive Capitalism, New York.

Her body of work includes the exhibited series "Sudden Flight," “Manifestation,” and “Nothing but the Stars;” a commission described as "Quintessence of Faith" for a Philippine construction company, and a sale through Salcedo Auctions. Her portfolio spans painting, drawing, and design, and has found collectors among private, institutional, and diplomatic buyers.

She holds a doctoral degree in Communication and has completed executive education at the Asian Institute of Management, credentials she applies to her work as a research consultant alongside her studio practice.

Her dual perspective as artist and researcher is the driving force behind KREATTIV, a platform she founded to support creative entrepreneurs and investors navigating an increasingly technical art market. To view her artwork, visit chiquirodriguez.com.
